Looking Back at One of the Telco Industry Events of the Year: TM Forum’s DTW “Ignite” 2023 Conference

Comarch experts were among almost 4,000 industry specialists to attend this year’s Digital Transformation World “Ignite” Conference in Copenhagen.

The event, staged annually by TM Forum, drew organizations from around the world. This year, one of the hot topics of discussion was the drive towards carbon neutrality in the telecommunications industry as part of a broader theme of “get fit for growth” through simplification, modernization and automation.

Of particular significance for Comarch at this year’s event was the opportunity to share details of the TM Forum “AI-powered cooperation for efficient networks” Catalyst project, on which Comarch has been working together with key players such as Orange, Vodafone, Inetum and NATEC. Comarch’s contribution was on open platform based on MIRA (Multi-criteria Intelligent Resource Allocation), which uses AI to plan, create, optimize and maintain network slices in accordance with various criteria (including economic and ecological).

Breaking previous attendance records, some 3,700+ representatives from CSPs, hyperscale cloud companies, start-ups, scale-ups and established software vendors were in the Danish capital for the event this September.

Yet, despite there being more than 300 speakers and 119 exhibitors from 114 countries, it wasn’t all about the numbers. Dozens of Catalyst projects aimed at rapid proofs of concept for practical solutions to telco’s need to go green and reduce the industry carbon footprint were present during DTW 2023. This year’s conference also saw 30 new signatories to TM Forum’s standards on autonomous networks.

Tomasz Staszek, Head of BSS Consulting at Comarch, praised TM Forum for a successful and record-breaking event, adding:

“It’s always a pleasure and an honor to attend this annual conference, and DTW 2023 – Ignite was no exception. We’re delighted to have had the opportunity to meet so many colleagues from the telco sector in Copenhagen, many of whom visited our stand and were keen to exchange insights and ideas to drive telco forward. We look forward to building on the relationships we established there, and to extending them – and forming new ones – when DTW 2024 comes around.”
