Autumn once again brought a season filled with conferences, exhibitions, and industry gatherings. Among the most notable events this year was the 450 MHz Alliance x Comarch Conference, held in Kraków from September 29 to October 1. The meeting brought together over 250 participants, including operators, regulators, technology providers, and energy sector representatives from more than 30 countries, all united by a shared goal: shaping the future of critical communications.

A global gathering in Kraków

The conference took place at Comarch’s campus in Kraków, the heart of our innovation ecosystem. We had the privilege of co-organizing and hosting the conference with the 450 MHz Alliance, with additional support from STUV, a leading German company specializing in physical security.

The 450 MHz Alliance is a global industry association that promotes using the 450 MHz spectrum for reliable and secure wireless communications. This spectrum offers long-range coverage and strong building penetration, making it ideal for utilities, public safety, and rural connectivity.

The event is part of the Alliance’s regular series of biannual member gatherings that move between host countries each time. They serve as an opportunity to showcase how technology, policy, and industry collaboration are shaping the next generation of critical connectivity.

Insights from operators and regulators

The agenda covered a broad range of topics – from spectrum management and regulatory harmonization to AI-based network optimization, Digital Twins, and 5G RedCap, a key step between LTE450 and next-generation 5G/6G technologies.

Rather than focusing on single sessions, the conference offered a rich mix of global perspectives. Presentations from major global operators illustrated how 450 MHz networks are being deployed to serve national energy grids, remote regions, and even hybrid public-private infrastructures.

Experts discussed the importance of standardization and the emerging device ecosystem that will support 5G RedCap in the 450 MHz band. A recurring theme was the balance between coverage and capacity and the urgent need for regulatory alignment across regions to unlock the full potential of this spectrum.

The closing sessions focused on the Alliance's strategic direction, including new developments in the Americas and ongoing efforts to harmonize standards globally. The discussions underscored a shared commitment to ensuring critical communications remain resilient, interoperable, and future-ready.

A shared vision for critical networks

As participants departed Kraków, one message resonated clearly: the 450 MHz community is growing stronger and more interconnected than ever. The discussions and partnerships formed at this year’s event confirmed that the spectrum’s role in powering reliable, resilient, and intelligent critical networks will only expand.

For Comarch, co-hosting the event was an honor and an opportunity to support a community defining the future of reliable and intelligent communication networks worldwide.
