Kraków and Barcelona – February 25th, 2013 – Comarch, a global software house and systems integrator, today announced a partnership with the Car Connectivity Consortium (CCC), an organization driving global technologies for phone-centric car connectivity solutions, to host the MirrorLink™ Application Certification Management System (ACMS).

Developed by members of the CCC, MirrorLink is a technology standard for controlling a nearby smartphone from the steering wheel or via dashboard buttons and screens. The ACMS will help the CCC establish an ecosystem of smartphone applications that conform to established requirements and processes for more responsible use while driving.

More specifically, the ACMS contract provides for the creation of an environment for dynamic control of when and how applications can be used when connected to a compatible vehicle. The system distributes application and developer certificates to MirrorLink server devices (smartphones) and provides the necessary management and coordination tools, as well as metrics for analysis. The main component of the system is the Certificate Distribution System (CDS), which acts as the primary interaction point for customer devices via the Internet. The CDS is based on Comarch’s in-house Certificate Authority product. The ACMS is offered as software-as-a-service (SaaS), and will be hosted in Comarch’s own data center to assure the required availability and scalability

Comarch has been supporting the CCC since 2012. Thanks to successful collaborative development of the Certification Test System (part of the MirrorLink Device Certification Program), as well as in operating the Certification Authority for Device Attestation Protocol, the company has become one of the CCC’s trusted partners.

"Considering the number of MirrorLink-enabled smartphones (estimated at 1 billion in 2016) and the importance of safety and security on roads, the development, deployment and maintenance of ACMS is an especially important part of the overall ecosystem created around connected cars. Comarch has broad experience in delivering IT solutions for carriers, including real-time critical systems. Our agreement with the CCC validates the integrity of our core platforms," says Piotr Piątosa, Comarch Board Member, EVP Telecommunications.

"We have cooperated with Comarch on numerous projects already and decided to select them for the deployment of ACMS not only because of their extensive capabilities in the area of developing certification tools, but because of the superior quality of Comarch’s existing product. At the same time  Comarch demonstrated immense platform customization and scalability for our current and future needs." says Mika Rytkönen, chairman and president of the Car Connectivity Consortium.
